One of the most rewarding parts of running Boogie Beat Music and Movement is seeing the children grow — not just in size, but in confidence, coordination, imagination, and joy.

This is the story of one of those little ones — P — whose journey we’ve had the privilege to be part of since she was just ten months old at Boogie Beat Edinburgh, Mid and East Lothian run by Mairi Curle.

From Boogie Babies to Birthday Parties

P first started coming along to Boogie Beat at the Glencorse Centre when she was a baby — not quite walking yet, but already full of enthusiasm. Even at that age, she was completely engaged in the class, joining in with the rhythm, movement, and magic of the music.

A few months later, we were delighted to help celebrate her first birthday with a Boogie Beat party at the very same venue. We’re proud to be part of the Glencorse Centre’s birthday party packages, and it’s always so special when families who’ve joined us in class choose to celebrate their milestones with us too.

Growing with the Music

Since that very first class, P has continued to come along to Boogie Beat every Wednesday morning for more than two years.

These weekly sessions have become a much-loved part of her family’s routine, offering structure and a space to grow. Recently, P has been joined by her little brother, L, who’s now almost one himself! Watching the two of them together in class is a real joy — you can see how much L looks up to his big sister, studying her every move and starting to copy what she does.

That’s one of the most special things about our mixed-age Boogie Beat classes. They truly grow with the child. When little ones are ready for a new skill, they take it on naturally, and the younger children learn so much from watching and mimicking those who are a step ahead of them.

Confidence, Connection and Joy

Over the past two years, we’ve seen P’s confidence blossom. She’s always at the front, taking part in every song and story — stamping, singing, stretching, clapping — embracing every Boogie Beat action with joy and energy.

Seeing that transformation week by week is such a privilege. Boogie Beat isn’t just about movement and music — it’s about building confidence, nurturing creativity, and giving children a sense of belonging and routine.

In Their Own Words

“P absolutely loves her weekly Boogie Beat class. Every week she gets so excited to know what the story is going to be! I now get to enjoy the class with P and her little brother, and I can’t wait to see how he starts to develop along the way.”

Stories like P’s are what Boogie Beat is all about — watching children grow, learn, and shine through the power of music, movement, and imagination.
