The National Children’s Awards 2025 was nothing short of magical. Held at the stunning Athena in Leicester, a beautifully converted Art Deco cinema spread across three impressive floors, the entire evening felt like stepping into another world.
I attended the event with Jodie, my incredible franchisee from Gloucester Boogie Beat, who was a finalist for Most Loved Activity Provider in Wales and the Southwest. We arrived feeling excited and proud, and were immediately greeted by what can only be described as a 10-foot-tall vision in an extraordinary gown. With the theme of “Aspens,” everything shimmered in crisp whites, snowy textures, and winter sparkle. It set the perfect tone for what would be an unforgettable night.
A Warm Welcome & A Breathtaking Venue
The evening began with a champagne reception, giving us the chance to catch up with familiar faces and soak in the atmosphere. Soon we were invited into the main room, and wow, it was breathtaking. A huge, multi-level space that cascaded down toward a dance floor and grand stage. To our delight, our table was right at the front!
We shared our table with the lovely Tamara from Dot & Stripe and several other fantastic franchisors and franchisees, including Music Bugs, The Footy School, and Kids Gone Wild. It was such a friendly, inspiring table, full of stories, laughter, and instant connections.
Entertainment, Awards & A Whole Lot of Wow
The event opened with a spectacular aerial act complete with fire and dancers, an absolutely thrilling start! The first round of awards followed, and it was wonderful to cheer on the winners and celebrate the passion and dedication across the children’s activity sector.
Starters and mains arrived next (delicious!), followed by more breathtaking aerial acrobatics and another round of awards. After dessert, yet more winners were announced before a grand finale of aerial artistry brought the show to a close.
Celebrating Community, Passion & Achievement
One of the most uplifting parts of the evening was spending time with so many children’s activity providers. Seeing their surprise, joy, and pride as awards were announced was genuinely heartwarming. The sense of community in our industry with everyone rooting for one another, is something truly special.
Although Jodie didn’t take home the winning badge this year, we couldn’t be prouder of her achievements. She has built a strong, thriving business in her area, supported by talented class teachers, backed by glowing reviews, and driven by her commitment to inclusivity within her Boogie Beat sessions. Being a finalist is a huge accomplishment in itself, and she absolutely shone.
TikToks, Photo Booths & Plenty of Laughter
Of course, no big event would be complete without a bit of fun. We made a brilliant TikTok with Tamara from Dot & Stripe and others at our table, head over to our Instagram to see what we got up to!
After the awards wrapped up, the dance floor came alive. Jodie and I even hopped into a 360° photo booth, which was hilarious and definitely worth checking out on our socials.
Leaving on a High
We both left the Athena feeling elated, full of joy, inspiration, and gratitude. It was a night of new connections, meaningful conversations, and shared celebrations. Being part of such an uplifting, supportive industry is a privilege, and evenings like this remind us just how special it is.
The National Children’s Awards 2025 was truly incredible and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
